Over the past eight years, I have had the opportunity to sit individually with thousands of employees, and hundreds of business owners. One particular theme keeps coming up: 90% of people don’t understand health savings accounts, and it’s costing both the employer and employee a lot of money. Our mission is to make sure business owners are personally leveraging this account to its full potential, and that their benefit programs are designed in a way that allows their employees to do the same.
When an H.S.A. strategy is structured correctly, it has the ability to completely stabilize an employer’s benefit program in 3 years or less. I read all the time about how H.S.As are the best financial accounts available on the market. They are more valuable than 401(k)s, FSAs, HRAs. There is not another account available that allows for triple-tax savings.
We are strong advocates of health savings accounts (HSA), so much so that we created an education program specifically designed to educate employees on the value of them. When done correctly, an HSA program is a win-win-win. Employers save money short and long-term, employees save money on premium, and employees save money on out-of-pocket medical costs! The key to success is education, both for the employer and employee. Many Brokers aren't able to provide the level of attention and service required to make an HSA implementation successful. Employees are left frustrated, or worse yet, they leave significant tax and premium savings on the table. Our program will not leave your employees on their own to figure things out. Andrew is from Royalton, MN, and graduated from Saint John's University in 2010. His first professional job was as an Employee Benefit Consultant at a mid-sized benefits agency located in Little Falls, MN. After 4 years, he moved on to work as an Account Executive at a large insurance agency in Minnetonka, MN. His role was managing a group of 100 employers, ranging in size from 5 to 200 employees. While working at this firm, Andrew completed his Masters Degree in Business Administration at Hamline University, graduating in 2013. It was shortly after this time that SmarterHSA was founded. Overall, Andrew has 8+ years of experience working in the employee benefits industry.

Tyler is from Royalton, MN and graduated from Southwest State Minnesota University in 2011. His first professional job was as an Employee Benefit Consultant at a mid-sized benefits agency in Little Falls, MN. After two years, he moved on to serve as a benefit advisor with Colonial Life. He served as a key member of the national enrollment team with Colonial Life for six years, where he was consistently recognized as one of the top benefit advisors in the Northwest Territory. Overall, Tyler has 8+ years of experience working in the employee benefits industry.
